I like to think that I’m a patient person. That I’m the kind of person that finds something to do while I wait for that circle to stop spinning or for that bar to hit 100%. Of course, just because I try to be patient, it doesn’t mean that waiting isn’t boring and stressful and annoying.
I’ve mentioned before that whenever I’m home my brother and I play through games together. Now, he’s been on vacation with his dad for the last week so I’ve been on my own when it comes to gaming. At first it was nice having free reign of the PS4 and TV, but that slowly went away.
Right before my brother left, we finished playing through Alan Wake and were talking about what we were going to start next. Then he picked up Horizon Zero Dawn. I told him that it was dumb to start a super long game right before he was getting ready to leave. But as soon as I told him that the game was basically Skyrim with robot dinosaurs, I didn’t stand a chance.
For the next couple of days, we tore through the game every chance we got. We instantly fell in love with the world and with Aloy. We probably put a sold 15 hours into the game and we were constantly fighting over who got to play even though we agreed to switch off every time we died or completed a mission. It was a good three days.
Then he left and for the last week I have been itching to get back into the world of Horizon Zero Dawn. It’s just sitting there every time I go into the living room, every time I start up the PS4. My brother will be home tonight but the anticipation has been driving me crazy. Being patient isn’t always easy, but it’s especially hard when what you want to do is sitting right in front of you.
I know I could have just started my own game, but the experience of playing through the game with my brother is worth the wait. But trust me when I say that I am anxiously counting down the hours.
How do you guys deal with waiting to play a game? Is it worse waiting for a game to be released, waiting for it to download/update, or waiting for the time to play it? Thanks for reading!
