My Life as a Survivor
(Hey guys Redguard Assassin here. First I like to thank you for reading this. It's not much but for me it means a lot. Now this blog is something I've been planning to do for awhile now. I thought I might do something similar with Skyrim but I've been playing that game less and less now. Then came DayZ and the Steam Summer Sale. Long story short I bought ARMA 2 and downloaded the mod. I decided to keep a blog about some of my adventures in this game and I hope you enjoy it. Note: I didn't take these pictures)
I spawn in the coast in God knows where in this game. To be honest this was fourth time trying this game since I've been dying almost immediately by mistakes that I have done. Now I'm here in this coast with a bandage and some flares. Thankfully there a town a few yards away from me and I quickly made my way there. About three-fourths of the way to the small town I noticed that it was overrun by zombies. I scouted the town with zoom feature and look for anything worth of value. There were a few cans littered about and a fellow survivor making his way around the camp.
I've noticed that this survivor was armed and I realized that it would be a good idea to stay away from him. He might've been kind and generous or he could have been a bandit. I didn't want to take that chance. I decided to walk the opposite of him and continue down the road. After about twenty minutes of walking I notice another town. Doing the same I did with the last town, I looked around making sure no one was there. Thankfully no one was but there were many zombies. I decided to go prone and crawled for a while in the town. Most of the building I couldn't enter and the ones I could had nothing useful.
Realizing my time was wasted I decided to leave. There a nearby railroad and I've decided to follow that. There not that many players on this server so I thought the chances of them sniping while walking along the railroad were slim. I walked this road for about an hour and half. What happen was mostly me making an almost fatal mistake on seeing how close I can get to a zombie without it noticing me. Let's just they are very persistent but for strange reason can't see me when I'm in a bush. This was hilarious since I now knew a way to hide from them.
When I alerted the group or "herd" of zombies I had ran for about ten minutes getting more lost than before. At least before I had guide of sorts with the train tracks but now I was in the middle of nowhere. Thankfully I saw a lighthouse and with my hopes up high I thought there might be something worth scavenging. Making my way to the lighthouse was fairly easy. No zombies around and I didn't notice any players that could harm me. Unfortunately there was nothing in the lighthouse and out of nowhere heavily armed player was making his way towards the light house.
I ran as fast as the game would let me. I didn't want to die now. I might have nothing on me but I want this gaming session to end on my terms and getting shot at is not one of them. My escape was a blessing in disguise though. There was city nearby and by this time there only about two other survivors in the game. I went in the city which was surprisingly void of zombies. I couldn't believe it. There were no enemy players or zombies in this city. I searched through the buildings. I found my first gun, I believe it was a Winchester and some ammo for it. I also found a revolver as well. My luck was changing. I was actually surviving and I didn't have to worry about any zombies now. If they notice me, I will just shoot them. Players were still a big concern for me but there wasn't that many on the server like I said,
It was getting late in real life( about 3am) and iwas getting ready for bed. I decided that before I go to be that I fight and kill my first zombie. I had one my sights and I was on the out squirts of town. I was near a bush so in case I needed to hide I could. I've fired my first shot ever in DayZ. I've missed. Now three zombies were coming for me. They ziz zag their way towards making it hard for me to get a shot. I've decided to hide in the bush hoping they will leave me alone. They did but I've decided to shoot them there thinking "Oh well they won't see me firing this here derp derp.".
It was my worst mistake yet. They knew where I was now and they came rushing at me again. I luckily got head shot on one of them but the other two got good hits on me. I've killed them both but at what cost? My screen was blurry and in black and white. I now know I won't be making it since I've used my bandages already from that zombie herd a few hours back. I've decided to log off at that point.
To be honest even though the game has a lot more running than I would like, I'm enjoying so far. My guy is basically dead but who knows maybe I can find something to heal him but I'll most likely just let zombies kill him in a final last stand. I think I probably bleed out before that though. Anyway thank you for reading this. If you see any mistakes don't be hesitant to point them out but in a kindly matter. Leave a comment about your experiences so far in the game.
