31/31 Day 15: A Blog About A Blog

Hello everyone and welcome to day 15 of my 31/31 series! Today’s blog marks the halfway point in the series, and gives me a chance to stop and reflect on my 31/31 so far. I’ve really enjoyed it so far, and I’m appreciative both of the chance it gives me to grow as a blogger, and how it’s allowed me to make new friends on the site.

Now, I decided to do the 31/31 sometime in mid-July, thinking that this sort of commitment will challenge me into stepping up my game as a blogger, and would be just the sort of thing that I need. I’m someone who needs a bit of motivation to get going, and the 31/31 has really helped in that regard. In addition to needing motivation, I also a bit stubborn when it comes to commitments. Whenever I say I’m going to do something, I usually follow through with the commitment, even if it is not wise for me to do so. So even though I’ve had some interesting places to blog, I’ve tried my best to follow through with blogging. With that being said, here are some reflections on my 31/31 so far:

-Day 1: I really liked this blog. I was a bit disappointed that I had already done an introduction blog, but this turned out fine.

-Day 2: I was shocked that this blog didn’t get herded and my Nintendo one did. I loved this blog so much. It’s the one that has taken me the longest time, and it’s the one that I’ve spent the most amount of time on.

-Day 3: I liked this one. I always enjoy doing the Memories blogs, and this one was no exception. A special blog about a console with a special place in my heart.

-Day 4: I really enjoyed making this one. I am a big Nintendo fan, so it was really fun to play the role of Nintendo leader for a day. I was so happy that the blog got herded too. I was starting to get worried that none of mine would get there, but I am happy to have been proven wrong there.

-Day 5: This blog was too close for comfort. At this point, I was still dead set on doing all of the blogs on time, by midnight. However, I had made plans to hang out with my best friend that day at his house. So, I find myself on his computer at 10 o’clock at night, scrambling to come up with a blog idea, and continually distracted by my friend’s constantly humorous dialogue. I remember having the original draft of this contain over 2,000 words, but when I had copied the first draft into GIO, my friend’s computer decided to act weird, and it deleted my entire work on the site. So, I tried putting the whole blog up 2 more times, and they got deleted again. At this point, I’m super worried, since I had 10 minutes left to get that blog up on time. It didn’t help that the entire computer was now acting up, and I couldn’t even get a tab open half of the time without the computer freezing. Finally, after trying for two hours, I get the blog loaded. Except I forgot to include any pictures. So I go back and edit the blog, only to have the formatting for the blog get completely screwed up. At this point of course I now have to repost my entire blog once more and go through with that ordeal. I eventually get the blog up, and I think it still managed to be on time.

-Day 6: I really liked this blog as well. It was weird adapting a different style for my blogs, but I enjoy the concept of the series. I was kind of bad-mouthing the actions of the editors for a portion of the blog though, so I’m surprised it got the positive reaction that it got.

-Day 7: This is a blog where I was really proud of the final product, but wasn’t quite sure how well it was going to be when I was writing it. Most of my blogs are planned out ahead of time in order to avoid procrastination on my part, but this one was a rare heat-of-the-moment one.

-Day 8: I LOVE THIS BLOG SO MUCH. I freestyle rap and do poetry as side hobbies, and while I love doing them, I always feel as if they are a bit amateurish and immature. However, I was really happy with the way that this blog turned out, and that it got such a good reception. Oh, and it only took me 20 minutes to write in total. That’s less than most of my normal blogs. Honestly, I really hope this blog gets herded, and this is the one which I think will have the best chance to do so. This is by far the blog that I’m the most proud of.

-Day 9: You know, I quite like this blog. I think that there is a fair amount of research done in it, and I think I did a good job conveying a central argument in the blog. I’m a bit surprised at the muted reaction to that blog though. Oh well, can’t win them all.

-Day 10: This wasn’t really my favorite blog. It was an absolutely crazy day that day, and I had very little time to write the blog. See, for all of the blogs up to and including this one, I was at my home in the Midwest. However, I found out here that I was going to spend the next 2-3 weeks in North Carolina. This really threw me off of my game.

-Day 11: Ah, I loved writing this blog. It was tough coming up with 13 gaming sins, since I consider myself to generally be a good gamer, but this was still fun to write none-the-less. I’m also thankful for the reaction that it got. I expected a lot of people to chide me for how lame my gaming sins were.

-Day 12: This blog on the other hand, was a disaster. I was super busy this day, and I was having trouble getting the internet to work. At this point, I had moved into my hotel where I am staying, and I found out that the hotel limits a user’s internet time to 30 minutes per user. This made things really difficult for me, since I also spend time on the internet social networking and emailing my school in regards to a big paper I have to write this summer. In addition, the Wi-Fi itself is very finicky, choosing to work or not work at particular moments. As I would post the blog, the internet would stop working, and nothing would get posted to the site. I did a dance with the internet for about 3 hours before it actually posted. And when it did post, it double-posted, and had formatting issues. Not to mention, the picture didn’t work. I seriously considered quitting my 31/31 if the rest of my blogs were going to be like that. Fortunately, the haven’t been so far.

-Day 13: This was just a heart-warming blog for me to write, and a surprisingly fun one to write as well. I was worried that I was going to drift off-topic while writing about it, but I’m happy that it seems like that didn’t happen.

-Day 14: Yesterday’s blog was a fun one to write as well, especially given how many gaming quirks I have. However, the internet was acting weird again, and the blog was taking a really long time to write. I was desperate for pictures, so I picked some that I now realize might not fit in with the theme of the rest of the blog.

That now brings us today. Speaking of which, that just about wraps up this blog. Did you find any of these observations interesting or worthwhile? Have you enjoyed my 31/31 so far? Have you disliked it? Any suggestions for future posts? Any blogs in particular standout? As always, thank you all so much for the support so far, and best of luck with any blogging you all might have planned out as well!
