BLOOD OF ELVES: A NOVEL BY ANDRZEJ SAPKOWSKI.

Blood of elves is a novel by andrzej sapkowski. It follows the continued adventures of geralt of rivia, Better know as the witcher. Blod of elves is the first novel in the witcher saga, But the second novel in the witcher series. It takes place several years after the last wish. ( the last wish is a collection of short stories that set up the witcher universe ) after a terrible war with the nilfgaard, A uneasy peace has settled across the land. Along one of his travels, Geralt finds ciri, A child of destiny. Who will set set the world right. Only if geralt can train her to control her dangerous gifts. If ciri should fall in to the wrong hands, It would mean the end of the world as we know it. So it's up to geralt to protect ciri from the evil nilfgaard and herself. Because the fate of the world rests in her hands.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                    Blood of elves is 398 pages long, Originally published in 1994 and then translated to english in 2008. It starts out strong with geralt finding ciri and training her to become a witcher. About half way through it slowly goes from an action adventure, To more of a training montage. It focus on ciri's training, Then it does on the war that looms over head. Usually i'm alright with the whole story ark about someone learning to use their new found powers. But just felt like it spent to much time on the training, And overall the training was really boring. If it had been ciri and geralt hunting down monsters and training at the same time, I think that would have been a lot better. One big change from the last wish to blood of elves, Is the fact that it has a lot more characters. Because of that most chapters are told from someone else's perspective, Not geralt who in the last wish told most of the story. Now as a whole i'm not down on the story, But it just wasn't what i wanted from the next witcher novel. Overall, It is a good novel with interesting characters, Some really great character development. But the story holds it back from being great. All in all if you liked the last wish, Blood of elves is still worth a look. If you're a fan of the video game, Blood of elves leaves a lot to be desired.
